Confronting Pancreatic Cancer

Vaccine Use in Cancer

There are more than thirty active clinical trials for pancreatic cancer involving "biologics" (immune system boosters including vaccines) in our Pancreatica clinical trials database (under "immunotherapeutic agent" in the drop-down "Drug Categories & Mechanisms"): http://www.pancreatica.org/Search.cfm

Many of these vaccine type agents are phase I clinical trials, more than a dozen are phase II and there are a handful of phase III studies. Some of the more noted agents in the phase III trials are: PanVac -vf, Insegia (Gastrimmune), and Virulizin.

The article below is a good review of some of the key issues and rationales for vaccine use in cancer.
