Confronting Pancreatic Cancer

Donations Gratefully Received

Thank you for visiting the Pancreatica.org site. This site is an initiative of the non-profit Lorenzen Cancer Foundation, a 501-c-3 organization. The efforts of this website are supported by donations and grants.

Through the generosity of people like yourselves, we have been able to create the largest database of clinical trials in the world against pancreatic cancer, many times larger than the next largest listing. We have also created the world's most robust array of current medical literature about pancreatic cancer.

We need your help to continue this work. Won't you please join us in this effort?

How to Offer a Donation Gift

Click on this button to make a credit card donation. Donations are tax deductible (in the U.S.), as provided by law.

Any questions can be addressed by contacting webmaster@pancreatica.org.

Checks or money orders can be sent to the address listed below. We would discourage cash being sent through the mail.

Please make checks payable to Pancreatica.org and send to:

Pancreatica.org
149 Bonifacio Place
Monterey, California 93940

We do accept pledges -- a promise to give in the future, but which allows you to make payments according to your personalized circumstance via such approaches as reminders, automatic banking and even payroll deduction.

Some companies will match employee donations with a corporate gift; this is sometimes referred to as an employer matching program. Usually the company will provide a simple form to give to the development officer when you make your donation. We endorse the form, return it and the company then sends us the donation.

Non-cash gifts are also gratefully received, depending on circumstance. Please contact the Webmaster to inquire about such matters.

Regardless of which donation method works best for your personal situation, the staff at Pancreatica.org stands ready to answer your questions and to assist you in making an appropriate and satisfying gift. Your generosity will help keep current and topical information about pancreatic cancer available to both patients and physicians on an ongoing basis and with world-wide reach. Thank you.

Please allow three weeks for a written return acknowledgement and receipt.

Again… thank you for your donation!

The Wider View

We depend on the generosity of those who appreciate the efforts of the Pancreatica.org team and who share our vision; one of providing ongoing, current, and impartial information to help patients and physicians create optimal treatment strategies.

It is hard work and requires a surprising amount of effort from our dedicated team to track down the clinical trials which are presented in the Pancreatica.org database. For example, currently we are following the development of several hundred drugs in development against pancreas cancer as they progress through the gauntlet of experiments and trials which will finally judge their efficacy in comparison to existing standard therapy.

There is a philosophical underpinning to the presentation of the information on the Pancreatica.org website - this effort is based on our conviction that, when dealing with this serious disease, patients and doctors need as much knowledge as possible (and as soon as possible) about the range of available treatment options for pancreatic cancer.

This general area remains our fundamental aim. However, our dream in regard to a longer term aim is to direct resources toward the main obvious vulnerability of pancreatic cancer -- toward the earlier diagnosis of the disease. There currently exists no biochemical, molecular, or genetic screening tool for pancreas cancer, such as the PSA test for prostate cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is the least funded of any of the main cancer killers even though it has the most aggressive profile. This is even further accentuated by the lack of funding and studies oriented to the earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer - less than 5% of published medical articles about pancreatic cancer are directed towards finding a method toward the earlier diagnosis of this disease. And make no mistake, the natural history of pancreatic cancer is such that if it could be diagnosed at an earlier stage, the treatment options would radically open up.

So apart from any other donation information on this page, if you are in a position to make a large serious targeted results-oriented contribution to the fight against pancreatic cancer (or if you know someone who is), please contact us. A sober, intelligent, entrepreneurial and directed effort could forever change the tragic human relationship to this disease. And we have very definite thoughts on how this effort could be organized for maximum effectiveness. Contact us.

Thank you.
